Payroll Manager: You are in charge

As a payroll manager at Engine Room, you manage full-scope payroll functions for multiple clients, using client-designated systems for payroll, benefits and retirement accounts.

You forge effective, collaborative relationships with clients, processing platform contacts and fellow Engine Room team members, to ensure deadlines are met consistently and with impeccable accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain client Payroll Workbook, including careful review and audit of payroll information prior to finalizing
  • Collaborate regularly with client teams, client payroll contacts and processing platform contacts to ensure correct, accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Become proficient in multiple payroll, benefit and 401k platforms
  • Ensure accurate and complete work in client payroll compliance; state payroll taxation; registrations; 401(k)s; Workers’ Compensation; W-2s
  • Manage client implementation and/or conversions of payroll and benefit plans
  • Take on other job-related tasks or projects as needed

Skills

  • Significant life science experience much preferred
  • Brilliant at collaborating in a dynamic environment, often toggling between tasks and clients
  • Well versed in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and V-Lookups
  • Working knowledge of ADP, Gusto, Insperity, Rippling
  • Equity chops, with Equity Edge and Carta, would be excellent
  • Know how to register out-of-state employees
  • Experience working with PEOs is a plus
  • Maniacal about maintaining meticulous, confidential records
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in processing multi-state payroll with exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Solid knowledge of state registrations and payroll tax and compliance activities
